Cattaraugus
County and Southwest New York
Many of the County Links on the left will keep you specifically in Cattaraugus County here in the southwest corner of New York. New links and listings are added often.
This is a special place filled with unexpected surprises around every turn of the country road. Located in Western New York along the border of Pennsylvania, Cattaraugus County is home to the only city in the nation on Native American lands. Our county is easily accessible from the Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo, Toronto, Rochester or Syracuse areas. The Seneca Indian Nation, a branch of the Iroquois, has a proud history which is on view at the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum.
Allegany State Park, New York's largest state park, lies along the southern border of the county. It attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year who come to camp, to enjoy the woods, hiking trails, swim in the two lakes, fish in the streams, ponds and lakes, snowmobile, cross-country ski, hunt, ride horses and just take in the bountiful beauty of nature. Adjoining the state park is the Allegheny Reservoir which features the Onoville Marina Park.
Griffis Sculpture Park is a 400-acre private park which welcomes visitors to picnic and hike amidst more than 200 colossal sculptures. And one of the country's major herds of buffalo makes its home right here in Cattaraugus County. Stop and admire these mighty beasts...even buy a steak to take home.
