It is the least-populated county in the Adirondack Park, and the largest. It has one million acres of unbroken wilderness. Two hundred sixty-two lakes and ponds. Five hundred miles of groomed cross country trails.

You don't end up in Hamilton County by accident. Directly in the middle of the Adirondack Park, the largest park in the continental United States - bigger than Yellowstone and Yosemite combined - Hamilton County represents a different way of life. There are no Gap outlets here. No long lift lines at the downhill ski centers. You can roar through the 750 miles of groomed snowmobile trails all day without hitting a town. It is one of the wildest areas in the country. Its residents - less than three per square mile - are here because they're drawn here. It's one of the last places in America where the wild still rules.
