Wonderful Wine, Women and Water! Seneca County is home to fifteen estate wineries, Seneca Falls is the birthplace of Women's Rights, and the county enjoys over 100 miles of shoreline.

Seneca Falls has also been called the model for "Bedford Falls" in the holiday movie classic "It's A Wonderful Life". The nearby Village of Waterloo is the Official Birthplace of Memorial Day. Shop Smart at the 100-stores of the Finger Lakes Outlet Center, or spend time outdoors at the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, Finger Lakes National Forest or four State Parks.

Early women's rights leaders Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Coffin Mott, Martha Coffin Wright, Mary Ann M'Clintock and Jane Hunt organized an influential Women's Rights Convention, also known as the Seneca Falls Convention, held in 1848 at the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel. A "Declaration of Sentiments" was adopted, which included support for women's suffrage. Frederick Douglass, a former slave and publisher of a Rochester, New York, abolitionist newspaper, attended the convention. His eloquent support for the women's suffrage resolution was instrumental in its passage. Nearby Waterloo was the planning location for the convention, which is commemorated by the Women's Rights National Historical Park in the two villages.

The Village of Waterloo was incorporated in 1824 and again in 1866, the same year it celebrated the first Memorial Day. Waterloo was officially designated as the official birthplace of Memorial Day in 1966 by President Lyndon B. Johnson; the Memorial Day Museum is in the town.
