Many of the County Links on the left will keep you specifically in Wyoming County here in the Niagara Frontier of New York. New links and listings are added often.
Wyoming County has a long and colorful history. Before the White Man came it was the homeland of the Seneca Indians "Keepers of the Western Door" of the Iroquois Federation. Mary Jemison, "The White Woman of the Genesee" was adopted by the Indians after her parents were killed in an Indian raid in Pennsylvania. She lived out her life in what is now Letchworth State Park.
The county has a full array of cultural attractions and activities for those who yearn to learn. History buffs shouldn't miss the Gaslight Village in the hamlet of Wyoming which is still lit by its original gaslights and contains over 70 homes
listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
If your excitement index wants a jolt, try hearty adventure in the form of white-water rafting on the Genesee River, hot air ballooning or horseback riding through Letchworth. Or if you'd rather sit back for the thrills and let someone else take the spills, try
the highly acclaimed rodeo in Attica. Then you can take a steam train excursion on the Arcade and Attica Railroad for a view of nature's wild side. And if you like wildlife, don't miss the Beaver Meadow Nature Center near North Java sponsored by the Buffalo Audubon Society.
